On a recent business trip to the area, I noticed the place from my hotel. It's truly a jewel in the mall area, and I had two dinners there during my stay.
The dining area is beautifully staged but I preferred take out to enjoy in my hotel room.
One dinner was the tandoori chicken, accompanied by vegetable samosa and naan. The other dinner was tandoori salmon accompanied by vegetable pakora and naan. The food was served hot and each dish savory, and the portions plentiful.
The take out was packaged in separate containers with the necessary sauces and plastic cutlery.
On my first visit, I was introduced to the owner, a charming man who engaged me in light chat as I waited. The maître d' is a pleasant fellow who remembered my name, and kind enough to extend a discount to my bill
Most certainly, I will return to this Restaurant on my next business trip.
And I hope the locals will value this spot! -

I've been here several times, but recently for the lunch Buffet. A few items I really enjoyed were the carrot pudding, samosa chat, chicken makahni, and the dal. The also had fruit salad, goat curry, white rice, a fried rice, paneer kadai, and an Asian/Indian style chicken that I can't remember the name.
This buffet always has hot food that stays at appropriate temperatures. And the naan is brought directly to your table. It's not a "blow your top" naan, but it's fresh and does the job.
All and all it's a good option for lunch or dinner. -

FOOD:
We had come here on a Sunday evening at around 7:30 pm for dinner as we were staying at a hotel nearby. I had settled on the Chicken Makha ($18.00), as well as the Naan ($3.00), while my husband had settled on the Lamb Bhuna ($19.00). In terms of the Chicken Makha, I did enjoy the large portion that I had received, along with the many pieces of chicken which were found inside of the dish.
One thing I found was that the chicken pieces were a bit too big, which made it difficult to eat, as the pieces were hard to cut with the spoon. I loved the multitude of spices which were mixed into the dish, along with the creamy sauce that was covering the chicken pieces, definitely a great dish! I also loved how the Naan was prepared, which tasted crunchy on the outside (yet not too crunchy), along with being soft on the inside, which was perfect for dipping into my Chicken Makha. I was also given a large amount of Naan, which allowed me to polish the dish.
In terms of my husband's Lamb Bhuna, he enjoyed how delicious it tasted, and that it wasn't too spicy (it doesn't like a lot of spice in his food). He was also given a complimentary serving of rice, which we found to be very kind of the restaurant. Overall, the food was well-prepared, with only the freshest of ingredients, and tasted amazing, filling us up to the brim!
ATMOSPHERE:
When we had walked into this restaurant, we were surprised to see how busy it was for the time of night that we had arrived. We were greeted upon entering, and brought to a table near the kitchen. Even though the restaurant was busy, it wasn't too noisy, and there were many servers walking around serving the guests, making it easy to get anyone's attention when needed. We found that the décor was very chic, reminiscent of the culture, which was also inviting, and warm. I loved how comfortable the booth that we were sitting in was, along with the dim lighting, which created a romantic ambiance.
SERVICE:
When we had first arrived, we were seated by an older gentleman, who gave us our menus, and allowed us time to order. We were then given our water by another gentleman, then our meals by yet another gentleman! We were definitely well-taken care of by all of the staff, with all of our servers being courteous, kind, and inviting. We definitely enjoyed how attentive everyone was during our stay!
COST:
1 Lamb Bhuna ($19.00) + 1 Chicken Makha ($18.00) + 1 Naan ($3.00) + Tax = $42.40
WOULD YOU RETURN?
In a heartbeat! This restaurant knows how to make authentic food, and gave us a wonderful experience that we will always remember! -

This is our go to restaurant for Indian food in the DC metro area.
The location is convenient just off the beltway.
Seating is decent but it does get crowded on weekends. The staff does a good job getting people seated and taken care of as soon as possible. The service is good and quick too.
We have mostly stopped by for their weekend buffet but have done a la carte on some occasions too.
On all our visits, we have been satisfied with the food and service.
Our favorite dishes here are:
Pani Puri
Tandoori chicken
Goat Curry
Daal
Butter Chicken
Gulab Jamun (dessert)
There are many bad choices for Indian food in the DMV, but Jewel of India stands near the top of good, dependable, Indian food -

Honestly, came in hesitant with unsure expectations. As I walked in, the decor of the restaurant was elegant and the customer service was up to par. We got quickly seated and started checking the menu. I ordered the naan bread and found out later it was a $3 charge, heads up. Also got the samosas which were pretty good. However, it was literally the best bread I've had in months hands down. It was soft, warm, crispy and buttery. I was tempted to eat all bread for dinner. For our entrees, I got the chicken tikka masala, which was chicken in a brown sauce of some sort. Was really good highly recommend it. The other entree was chicken tandoori (red in picture). It was alright because it was bone in but slightly dry. Definitely would come back!
